E. Enrichment Day … Sept.
24
We are concerned about
a very low registration at this time but
hope that those “who have said they are coming” will
indeed
do so. Please encourage attendees for what we believe
will
be a very spiritually enriching day. We hope to see you
there!
Specific assignments…
Mary Therese –
facility and morning coffee
Marilyn and Mary
Ann – nametags, etc.
Mary Jean – caterer
for lunch; checks for presenters
F. Two letters of “concern”
will be sent by Council members to…
…Mr. Russ Elmayan – to
indicate our sadness at the closing
of the Freeman Media Center and more particularly
the
lack of ANY consultation, especially with parishes
who
were members of the library/media center and found
it
most useful. (SMT will stop and ask that a list of
the new
locations of Media Material in Parishes be provided
to
all parishes so that they can make contacts for use
of
the distributed materials.)
…Mr. Leo Tapler - to
say that we feel it is
an act of courtesy, at the least, to inform us of
the Sisters’
Stipend before
it is made public, since we are no longer
Consulted.
G. Feb. 25th Jubilee Celebration

divided up the deaneries and will make
phone calls to each convent to check on other

Other news that was shared….
Sr. Mary Ann went to the meeting of the Finance Council
only to find out that there was no meeting since Russ
Elmayan said that everything was fine.
Sr. Joan discussed some upcoming peace and justice events,
and parishes who have started the “Just Faith” program.
She also distributed her community’s stance on The Earth
Charter.
Sr. Barbara Marie’s parish(Jacksonville) has experienced 3
deployments recently as well as the influx of 2500 new
people(more have deployed to “Katrina Relief”). She shared
the fact that chaplains are assigned to a specific squad and
when the squad deploys the chaplain goes with them. This
has left the base with only one priest at this time who may
not be there for long; and has added a burden to the parish
to provide for the needs of the Catholics on base.
Sr. Marilyn told us that she and 3 other sisters from her
community are going to Alaska for possible ministry
opportunities. They met with the Bishop of Juneau in July
when he was home for a visit and they will go there to be
present at the Bishop’s Meeting in September to see
where and how they can form some joint ministries both
in Alaska as well as in British Columbia. The Bishop said
that they do not need programs, but they do need
assistance with formation of adults and catechists who can
then carry out this work with their small communities.
Srs. Joan, Marilyn and Mary Ann said that their sisters who
were serving in the areas of Katrina’s strike are safe, but
have nothing left. |
