I. Attendance… Srs. Barbara Marie, Mary Ann, Mary Therese, Margaret, Joan, Marilyn, Mary Jean. Excused: Sr. Joanne II. Opening Prayer: Sr. Barbara Marie III. Minutes of last meeting approved IV. Correspondence: Thank you for Tsunami Donations from Faithful Companions of Jesus and Sisters of Notre Dame. Thank you from Sr. Mary Alice Mooney for Jubilee celebration. V. Enrichment Day… a. Brochures were distributed to members b. Change … Bishop Gossman cannot be present c. Brochure distribution …. Sr. Joan … Diocesan Offices Sr. Mary Therese … parishes and campus ministry offices Sr. Margaret … her area Sr. Barbara Marie … her area & Wilmington area Sr. Mary Jean … Cathedral, all sisters in diocese *** If you can distribute some brochures in your area please contact Sr. Mary Jean for copies d. Travel reimbursement … will be given to out of town presenters e. Food … Council members will provide arrival coffee, juice, etc. Hammon’s Catering will do lunch f. Duties for “the day” will be assigned at the next meeting VI. Plan for “farewell-thank you” for Bishop Gossman … this will be determined at a later date when his retirement date if finalized VII. Congratulations.. a card will be sent to Bishop Gossman to the reception of an Honorary Degree from Belmont Abbey College VIII. Jubilee Day … 2006 a. Jubilee date of celebration is Feb. 25, 2006 at Sacred Heart Cathedral b. Celebrant of liturgy will be determined closer to that date dependent on changes in diocese IX. Sisters’ Stipend for 2005-2006 a. Leo Tapler is proposing a 3% increase b. Council questioned why we were not con- sulted since we are a Collegial Body ---Srs. Barbara Marie and Mary Ann will check on this. X. Council Leadership and Membership a. Co-Chairs offered to stay on b. A new membership drive will happen when we see the direction of the diocese XI. Other announcements … a. Retirement Fund Collection …$190,811.34…this is a $8000 increase from last year b. Sr. Frances Bowery, OP has left the diocese; she has been living here to care for her brother c. Farewell gifts were sent to the Sisters leaving the diocese: Srs. Grace Campbell, Dolly Glick, and Marie Therese Bugge d. Mary’s Pense sent a request for a donation… amount of donation will be $100. e. Sisters Directory as been updated to reflect the changes we know about … http://www. raleigh councilofreligious/sisters.xls (or.pdf) f. The new Diocesan Website will be launched next week.
