1. Attendance: Srs. Barbara Marie, Mary Ann, Mary Therese,
Margaret,
Joan, and Mary Jean
Excused: Srs. Marilyn and Joanna
2. Opening Prayer provided by Sr. Joanna
“For Women and Children who are victims of
trafficking”
3. Communication …
…from Jubilarians …. sent out in an email
…in response to Tsunami gifts … sent out in an email
…Invitation from Terry Jackson to suggest speakers ….
sent in email
4. Jubilee Evaluation
-Everyone seemed to be very pleased with the liturgical
celebration
and reception
-Many comments about the effect of “carrying the
candles in the
entrance procession”
-Because there seemed to be a question by Jubilarians
and others
concerning info in the NC Catholic … it was
decided that we will
send each Jubilarian a copy of the information
they submitted and
the article(we found only 2 errors)
-“North Carolina Catholics” will require a 6 week
heads-up for articles
therefore we will need to get information on the
2006 Jubilarians
in the fall(we already have one … Sr. Margaret
Gallagher – 50!)
- in light of the cost of Jubilee, etc. Sr. Mary Jean
asked for per-
mission to adjust the budget figures for the new
budget … granted
5. Enrichment Day ….theme…Prayer and Spirituality
2 sessions are already scheduled:
Srs. Patricia and Mary Margaret, CSC

of the Earth as seen through the Eyes
of Hildegard of Bingen and The Earth
Charter”
Sr. Joanna Walsh,
FCJ
“Finding God in
our experience: Theological Reflection
as a Spiritual Exercise”
We hope to have 4
sessions so that attendees can choose 1 in the
morning and 1 in the afternoon. Stipend will be
$100.

It was
decided that as our thank you to Bishop Gossman for his
years
of support for the Women Religious in our diocese, we will
dedicate the Enrichment Day on Sept. 24th to Bishop Gossman and
we
will thank him in a special way at lunch. Mark your calendar! |
We hope to be able to create a flier for the Enrichment Day
after our May meeting.
6. Farewells …. we know at this time that Sr. Grace
Campbell, Sr. Dolly
Glick, and Sr. Marie Therese Bugge will be leaving
the diocese in
June.
7. After his meeting next week Leo Tapler will be
contacting Council in
regard to the Sisters’ stipend for next year.
8. It was suggested that we invite Michele King, the new
webcaretaker
to the next meeting to explain the setup of the new
website to be
launched for the diocese. Since the launch date has
been move to
May 15th … we will do this in the fall.
9. New directory… please look carefully at the directory
and report any
errors to Sr. Mary Jean since this is the information
that will go on
the new website also. We have already noted: Error in
listing of the
Co-Vicars of Religious.
10. The new “Pastoral Services Staff” which is to me
semi-annually with
the Vicar General included: Dr. Terry Jackson,
Helen Blazuk, Kathy
Martyn, Msgr. Michael Shugrue, Msgr. Tim O’Connor,
Msgr. Tom
Hadden, Rev. David McBriar, Rev. Michael Clay, Rev.
Ned Shlesing-
er, Rev. Phillip Leach,
Sr.
Barbara Marie Cady, Sr. Mary Ann Czaja,
Very Rev. Fernando Torres, Very Rev. Jerry Sherba,
and Very Rev.
Steve Worsley. This group is an attempt to better
coordinate the
activities of the diocese and to allow information
from all groups to
be shared.
11. At the suggestion of Sr. Joan, it was decided that
beginning in May,
Council will distribute to all the sisters of the
diocese a “circle
of prayer calendar” which includes the names of all
sisters.
We agreed that this was a good way to keep us
prayerfully aware of
each other since we are fewer in number and
geographically
distant. Sr. Mary Jean will prepare these
calendars.
13. The May meeting of the Council will be on 11th from 3-5
at the
Catholic Center. Following the meeting the Council
members
will go to dinner together.
