4. Farewell plans for
Bishop Gossman …. we felt that we could not do
this since we
don’t know when Bishop Gossman will be leaving
office, so it has
been tabled for the time being. Anyone with ideas
is most welcome
to submit them to any member of the Council. If
a date is
announced we will meet in special session to plan this.
5. Vocation Report …
a. A vocation
retreat day was held at Holy Trinity, Williamston.
Director for the
day was the IHM Vocation Director.
Two women
attended; though communities are in contact with
about 15
women in the diocese with an interest in religious life.
Another day will
be held in New Bern; date not yet set.
b. Michelle
Castle, Diocesan Youth Director was contacted
regarding
the participation of Women Religious in the Search
weekends.
She now understand better why it is very hard for
Women
Religious to be present “the entire weekend”; and
she is open
to them coming and going as the clergy do. We hope
sisters
will now take advantage of being a part of these week-
end.
c. Council asked
Sr. Joanna to prepare for Centralized Mail a
bulletin
insert that would direct interested women to our
website
section containing contact information and questions
for
discernment. We will ask the parishes to, if possible, make
this a
permanent part of their bulletins. We realize that not
all
parishes will do this, but those who do will help us spread
the good
news.
6. Death of Sr. Mary Ruth
Bailey, IHM … on behalf of the sisters of the
diocese: flowers
were sent, Sr. Barbara Marie was present at the
wake, and Sr. Mary
Ann joined the IHM sisters in the choir for the
funeral. Please
continue to support Sr. Leonette and the IHN sisters
with your prayers.
7. Diocesan Endowment for
the Poor …. Sr. Mary Jean was part of the
group evaluating
the Grant Requests. The results of that meeting
should be
published in this weeks issue of the NC Catholic.
8. The Website Directory
has been updated as of the meeting date. It will
continue to be THE
ONLY ACCURATE information on the sisters.
The “blue book” to
be published will be accurate as of Dec. If any of
your information
changes please send the new information to
Sr. Mary Jean. She
will give it to Ruby at the diocese if you wish her
to. Information
sent directly to the diocese does not always reach us.
Check
http://www.raleighcouncilofreligious.com/sisters.pdf for the
latest
information. You will find new addresses for: Srs. Mary
Therese in Apex,
Sr. Lily and Sr. Jaine in Southern Pines, Sr. Carol
in Butner; and
several email address changes.

that Madonna House has a 20 yr. old computer.
Cardinal Gibbons
is providing them with a 3 yr. old computer with
updated internet

a newer
computer (it would be 2-3 years old … IBM) please contact
Sister Mary Jean
and this can be arranged for about $50. Cost is
negotiable.

extended, on behalf of the Council and all the sisters,
to the Sisters who
presented the Retirement Appeal this year. A

the Diocese, to
the Religious Communities who serve here and who
