COUNCIL OF RELIGIOUS
May 21, 2004
Minutes

PRESENT:  Barbara Marie Cady, Mary Ann Czaja, Margaret Gallagher, Joan
Jurski, Mary Jean Korejwo, Janet Schemmel, Joanna Walsh, Mary Margaret
Weber, Mary Therese Brown


ABSENT:  Marilyn Winters, Kieran Williams

The May 21, 2004 Council of Religious convened shortly after four o'clock. 
It began with opening prayer.  The agenda was reviewed and accepted with an
inclusion of a report from Sr. Mary Jean regarding the retirment collection
held in the Raleigh Diocese.

The minutes were read and accepted.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Jubilee 2004 was exceptionally beautiful and gratitude was expressed for all
the effort and energy donated by the committee and others involved.

Jubilee 2005 has been scheduled on the Bishop's calendar.  Sr. Barbara Marie
stated that the date is February 5, 2005, following contact with the
Bishop's office.

Enrichment Day 2004 with Sr. Doris Klein is September 18 from 9:30 to 2:30
pm.  Food will be provided on site by Mary Judas.  Sr. Mary Jean agreed to
format the flyer and Lamb of God Book Store will make available Doris'
publication and cards.  The event will be at the Fallon Center, Our Lady of
Lourdes.

Sr. Margaret and Sr. Damian discussed the Avila Retreat Days for Sisters,
Friday and Saturday, Dec 17 and 18, designated for the Advent Retreat for
Religious 2004.

The November event with Sr. Attracta was well received.  The council is
grateful for everyone's contributions.

Sr. Mary Jean continues to assist the Council members with updates and
necessary information.  Her time, energy and expertise are appreciated.

NEW BUSINESS:

Discussion regarding leadership for 2004-2006 took place.  Sr. Barbara Marie
will await her decision regarding participation as co-chair pending her
religious community's call for leadership responsibility.  She will inform
the group of her decision to serve later this summer.

Treasurer:  Special gratitude and appreciation was extended to Sr. Janet for
her years as Treasurer.  Sr. Mary Jean will serve as treasurer.

Committee Membership:  Special attention will be extended to invite other
sisters to be active members.

Dates for future meetings:  Meeting during the day rather than Friday
evenings was discussed.  Friday, August 27 at 1pm at Cardinal Gibbons High
School will be our first afternoon gathering.

Religious Compensation - see memo from Leo Tapler

Retirement Fund:  Sr. Mary Jean presented the statistics and informative
material regarding the diocesan collection.  She is willing to continue with
promoting, organizing and recording for this valuable undertaking.

Sincere thanks was extended to Sr. Janet and Sr. Mary Margaret for their
years of service within the council.  Their involvement, ideas and efforts
have enriched all of us.

August 27 from 1-3pm - next meeting - at Cardinal Gibbons High School.
