Sr. Mary McGrath. Date needs
to be set
with the Bishop for next year soon to make
it
possible for more sisters to attend.

5)
Task Force …. discussion held on the present status of the
Womens Task Force and what it’s task is now.
Conclusions: Invite the Womens Task Force to
co-sponsor the Sept. Enrichment Day with us.
Sr. Mary Margaret will pursue more info on the
“present task” of this group and how we may
assist
and/or be involved with this.
6)
Finance/Budget: Sr Janet said that our budget will be
frozen for 3 years. A line item budget(estimated)
was given to members of Council. The on-going
cost of maintaining the website will be about $600
per year once Sr. Mary Jean takes over as web-
master July 1. We will continue to work with
Chuck Hilliard at ISP. Mileage
reimbursement
forms were collected from members. These will
be honored proportionately based on the balance
in this years budget after other expenses are
paid.
7)
Diocesan Budget Approval and Religious Stipend….
the following report will be presented by Sr. Mary Jean
at the Finance Meeting on Monday, May 19th.
(Religious Stipend: A communication was received from
the Diocese announcing that the Clergy have accepted
a salary freeze and asking the Religious to do the same.)
a)Religious Stipend:
- Council agrees in principal with accepting a salary
freeze for one year(to be revisited yearly) in solida-
rity with the employees of the Diocese.
- We were disappointed that the minutes of the
Priests’ Council indicated we would accept this
before the actual communication was received
by Council
- A list of sisters on stipend will be provided to the
diocese in the next two weeks.
- Council asked the the diocese write an official
letter to the Religious Superiors of communites
who are on stipend to explain the
circumstances
that warrant the freeze … since not all religious are
authorized to negotiate their salary independent of
their religious communities.
Answer: Accepted by Finance Council.
b. Questions and clarifications in Budget…
1) No evidence of where budget for VICAR OF
RELIGIOUS is included in budget.
Answer: Budget for Vicars comes under the
Bishop’s Office
2) Word “employee” is used many times in the
document and it does not always refer to
the same group of people.
Answer: this will be corrected in final copy.
3) Does
“Catholic School Tuition Assistance” in the
Capital Campaign and Plan for Cost-Based Tuition
apply to elementary schools only?
Answer: applies to High School also.
4) Website needs
much work if it is to be used in
place of centralized mailing, housing of the Budget
and Long-Range Plan, email, etc. “Search” works for
only a few items.
Answer: Agreed. Sr. Mary Jean invited later
by Frank
Morock to join a committee
being formed now. She
accepted.
5) Who does the
“Salary Freeze” on pg. 8 apply to?
Answer: Lay employees at Catholic Center.
6) We object to
wording of “Womens Task Force” as
“somewhat connected to diocese”!
Answer: This will be looked at.
Respectfully submitted.
